The engine is a stock 396/375 L78 out of a 68 Chevelle SS - Casting #3935440 and date code T0307EG. The engine is a fresh rebuild with less then 200 miles on it (June 12, 2002). It was bored 30 over to make it a 402 with the compression ratio being dropped from 11 to 1 to 10 to 1. The heads have had hardened exhaust seats installed, but other then that, the motor is stock. I have installed an MSD HEI distributor in order to make life a little easier. The Carb is a Holley 750cfm double pumper.
Drivetrain Info:
The transmission is a Muncie M-21 close ratio 4 speed with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. The Rear is a 12 Bolt 3:55 Posi Rear. The tires are BFGoodrich 2:55 / 15's, not stock, but they look and ride better then the old Polyglass Red Line tires.
Car Info:
The cars vin number starts with 138177B which means this car is no clone, but rather a real Super Sport. The car started its life in the fifth week of June in 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland, the "B" in the vin number. The car was originally Maroon but was Painted Black last year during an on frame restoration. I purchased the car last year in Sax, Viginia. The car came with a 427 - 400 engine, but I brought the 396-375 from a machine shop in East Windsor, Conn, to bring it back to being more original, sold the 427. The car has the gauge package and a speed one Speedometer. The radio is an original AM/FM that still works great. Over the Winter the interior was completely redone. The trunk was also redone. The radio and some of the gauges were not working when I brought the car, one was the gas gauge(found out about that one the hard way), but everything now works great. I am often asked if I would consider selling the car, but unlike my first 67, I don't intend to let this one go to soon.
